Guitar tight boost
Overture
The 808 boost — tighten your low end before the gain hits.
AU · VST3 · Standalone · macOS & Windows · AGPL-3.0
About
A TS-808-style tight overdrive/boost for the pre-amp tightening stage metal guitarists run in front of a high-gain amp: it strips low end before the clipper so palm mutes stay tight instead of farting out into the gain stage, then drives an oversampled, selectable-voicing clipper for the actual overdrive character.
Why the name?
An overture is the opening movement — the first notes that decide how everything after them will feel. Overture is literally the first thing your guitar signal meets: the tightening stage in front of the high-gain amp that sets up the whole piece.
Features
- Tight — high-pass pre-emphasis, 20–400 Hz, removes low end before the clipper
- Drive — 0–40 dB of gain into the clipper
- Bite & Knee Soften — frequency-dependent and drive-dependent shaping inside the clipper stage (v0.2.0)
- Voicing — Asymmetric (the original "808 boost" character, adjustable Asymmetry bias), Soft Symmetric, or Hard Clip, run inside oversampling to keep aliasing out
- Bite Tilt — post-clip bidirectional tone tilt around a ~3 kHz corner, replacing v0.1's cut-only Tone
- Level & Mix — output trim and delay-compensated dry/wet; Mix at 0% is a sample-accurate passthrough
- Bypass — host-visible soft bypass that crossfades instead of clicking
- Oversampling — selectable 2× / 4× / 8×
- Factory presets & preset management — browse/save/import/export via the in-plugin preset bar
- Full state save/recall
